I’m Detective Mel Anin. I didn’t set out to be a private diversity detective, the job chose me. Spent years working in the trenches in diversity training. Seen a lot of action. Diversity, equity and inclusion problems irritate me like voter suppression, microaggressions and a bad WiFi connection. And tension between ‘groups’ is worse than remote-work wardrobe malfunctions.
My job? Investigate and solve diversity crimes. Problem? I’m just one guy. But I’ve heard you’ve got moxie, see, and I need you on my team. You’re gonna train as a cadet by assisting me in solving a series of cases. What kind of cases? Good first question! I wish I had time to get into details, but they are triggered by what’s happening in the world today. Besides, we all like drama - I know you do. And how do I know that? Like I said - I’m a detective.
Throughout your training, you’ll help me get closer to exposing and apprehending the terribly cunning members of the underground criminal mastermind of MONO - Malicious Onerous Nefarious Organization. Then, at the end of your training as a cadet, you will receive a certification stating your aptitude for solving diversity related issues in your community. You might even get a mention in one of my cases!
Just one note of warning: You’ll have to work quickly to help me close all cases before it’s too late. While we investigate at the scene of the crime, you will use your fancy mobile device to collect and interpret data. If we work fast and efficiently, together we can make the world a better place.
Good luck cadets. May diversity be with you.
Action-packed diversity challenge! Minority Report meets NCIS meets Scrubs. Help detective Mel Anin solve tomorrow’s diversity challenges, today.
Drenched in storytelling, humor, research, current events, discussion, action-based learning and competition, this fast-paced live, gamified workshop series Diversity Mystery Theater, addresses diversity, equity, inclusion, racism, bigotry and freedom of speech in the form of a who-done-it mystery style crime solving activity. With the help of the audience and their computers and mobile devices, Detective Mel Anin must uncover clues to solve particularly snarky diversity, equity and inclusion cases.
Each case will be a separate virtual (webinar) 90-120 minute workshop session, presented as a dramatic story (episode) using Zoom, PowerPoint and polling software. The episodes are presented as film noir style dramatic visual storytelling with genre-specific voice-over and music. Each episode feeds into the next until the last episode when cadets must finally locate and apprehend the detective’s worst nemesis - the mastermind of MONO.
Detective Mel Anin will be communicating with you from his private office and at the scene of the crime, where he will facilitate discussions, live. His valuable, educated, 30 years of experience, on-the-spot insight should be kept in mind at all times - guidance you can’t get otherwise. At least, not in his sexy, classic 1940s pre-stereo, noir-ish voice.
During each episode, learners will use their computer or mobile device to respond to anonymous polls about evidence found, or theories posed by Detective Mel Anin. This data will be reviewed in real-time to all participants, culminating in discussion sessions about the interpretation of that evidence. Outcomes and responses will be available as anonymous data in the form of a report that the learners can review, or organizational diversity leaders can use to gain valuable insight into what learners are really experiencing.
Learners will:
Organizations, towns, schools, higher-ed diversity leaders and individuals - engage your community in diversity training like you've never seen! With 30 years of experience in training, teaching, producing entertaining diversity-related programs, we've got you covered. Detective Mel Anin's door is always open. Just a small note - if you get on the phone with him, he might ask you to speak to him in a 1940's style film noir like voice.
