RACEOFF

Over two million people have seen the video. And now, the live show! This lively, interactive motivational presentation will challenge the audience to wipe away assumptions about racial identity. The fundamental tenet of RaceOff is to eliminate racial categories by challenging the archaic rubric of color and feature-based designations, while celebrating the cultural and ethnic premises of identity.

In this powerful testament to the idea of true freedom of expression, Arboleda challenges the audiences and all assumptions about how humans are typically placed into simplistic boxes such as ‘Asian’, ‘Black’ or ‘White’. Arboleda's video, RaceOff, is a prominent installation piece in the national touring exhibit “Race: Are We So Different”. It kicks off the experience of being confronted with our own assumptions and stereotypes.

In the end, the audience will agree - there is no such thing as different human races. As a veteran national touring key-note speaker, professor Arboleda takes the audience on a wild tour of the history of racial categorization, the impact of racial positioning during the civil rights movement to the Census Bureau’s attempt to squash the multiracial movement. Through humorous and compelling storytelling, audience interaction, powerful projected images and a steady musical rhythm, RaceOff will make the audience laugh and cry about a myth that has divided humans for generations.
